Fikes Brace and Limb came into existence as an Arizona sole Proprietorship in July of 1996. Today it is a subchapter S-corporation with two subsidiaries, Phoenician Central Fab and Fikes Orthopedic Specialties in Show Low Arizona. This diversity allows Fikes Brace and Limb to serve the entire central to northeastern half of the state of Arizona.

Fikes Brace and Limb was founded and is currently owned by Ray Fikes and his wife Connie. Ray has a rich history of Orthotic and Prosthetic practice, not only as a medical caregiver, but as an entrepreneur, lobbyist and innovator. Ray was one of the founders and President of Lubbock Orthotic and Prosthetic Center in Lubbock, Amarillo and Odessa Texas. Ray was the architect of the growth of this company for ten years until realizing that he had built a large company at the expense of the quality of the medical care that his smaller company could give. At this point he sold his interest in this venture and moved to Arizona in September 1991.

Fikes Brace and Limb has grown to only two locations by design. There has been a resistance to growth due to Ray’s previous experience in Texas. Fikes Brace and Limb currently employs 15 people overall with all ventures considered and plans to remain this size in order to maintain high standards of quality and personal service.

Fikes Brace and Limb has given birth to the Arizona Amputee Foundation to allow them to extend quality care in a humanitarian way to their amputees as well as to provide financial aid to the patients of their competitors. All services are based on funds available through the AAF and these funds are expected to grow as the foundation matures.
